Craftsman Bungalow Update
Indianapolis
Our clients were a family of three who purchased a classic 1910 Craftsman bungalow in Indianapolis that was in need of updating.
Priorities were:

Creating more light in the home by updating interior paint with a modern color palette

Complete renovation to main floor and upstairs bathroom

Mudroom update

The approach was to keep the authentic, embrace the home's quirky character, and discover ways to make it work with the modern needs of family life and find that perfect cohesion.

DINING ROOM
The blue accent wall color was the starting point for the home's color palette inspired by vintage dinosaur prints the homeowners have in their collection. This color was carried throughout the home including in the dining room, which is separated from the living room by original built-in Craftsman cabinetry. The walls were also painted with a soft white complementing the deep mahogany trim and woodwork throughout the home. This color glows in warm light, which filters into the room. Other changes in the dining room included introducing a soft bronze pendant chandelier with modern lines.
LIVING ROOM
The living room was painted the same creamy white as the dining room, primarily to bring more light into the space, while keeping the original woodwork with floor-to-ceiling built-in bookcases.

The room feels bright, fresh and doesn’t feel heavy in the space.
LAUNDRY/BATHROOM
The laundry/bathroom was renovated adding new heated tile floors, modern cabinetry, and appliances. The soft blue color complements the blue hues used elsewhere in the home. A modern wallpaper echoes the color of the cabinets.
MUDROOM
New lighting, cabinetry and dark gray hex tile flooring in the mudroom have created an organized space for the whole family.
BATHROOM
Three smaller spaces were combined to create one bright and beautiful bathroom for the family. The white double vanity and tile flooring update a once dark and cramped space. The tiled tub surround with mosaic inset repeats the blue color used throughout the home. A rainshower system completes the bathroom oasis.
